“The State of Israel is tremendously grateful for the service and sacrifice of American troops who liberated the Nazi concentration camps during World War II. Israel and America both continue to fight for the preservation of freedom and democracy. Our countries have shared values and America has always been Israel’s greatest ally. Israel appreciates the service of those who have fallen to defend security in our region and around the world. On this Memorial Day, I extend my deepest sympathies to the families of America’s fallen heroes and express my gratitude for their sacrifice.”
Consul General Ofer Bavly served in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) from 1983 to 1987, in various capacities in the Military Intelligence Branch, rising to the rank of Captain. Mr. Bavly was appointed Consul General of Israel to Florida and Puerto Rico in August 2007.
